Project Reaper


Project Reaper is the name of my 2000 Dodge Dakota build project. It currently has a 5.3 liter engine mated to a 4L80e transmission. It features twin 69mm GT45 turbos, custom built exhaust, two VS racing 44mm Wastegates and a VS Racing 50mm blow off valve. It also features a Frozenboost type 26 air to water intercooler and will run on pump e85 with 160lb Bosch injectors on the stock truck intake. The engine will feature Molnar forged rods and LJMS custom forged Wiseco pistons and custom LJMS camshaft.





The engine is controlled by a Megasquirt MS3x standalone ECM in conjunction with a Microsquirt ECM with the Microshift firmware to control the transmission. Also, additional Microsquirts are being used for additional I/O and datalogging. The Megasquirt will also handle boost control and traction control duties. It interfaces with a custom built LCD dash operated by a Raspberry Pi 3 running Raspbian and the full version of Tunerstudio.


The suspension consists of 3 inch lowering springs up front, all new suspension components up front, Energy Suspension poly bushings everywhere, The rear currently has 3″ drop leafs. It is getting changed over to monoleafs and low profile Caltracs. The differential is also being swapped over to a Ford 8.8 with upgraded axles and a locker.

The brakes currently consist of drilled and slotted rotors up front with Hawk track pads. All hoses are braided stainless -4. The rear brakes will also be converted over to disc with drilled and slotted and Hawk pads also.

It currently sits on 275 Nitto 555r drag radials. These are being replaced with 325 drag radials.

Future plans call for a 8.5 cert cage, ¬†swapping the GT45’s out for Borg units and possibly building a 6.0 for it.
