Just mocked up my headers and turbos because I couldn’t wait to see how they looked. Now That I have some dimensions, I can also start planning on the support bracket that will hold them and keep their heavy weight from destroying my headers. With no intercooler, the cold side should be a piece of cake.
Another important item showed up today. My 2002 4L80e transmission. Complete, low mile out of a 2002 Chevy 3500. It will be controlled via a Microsquirt running the transmission control firmware and linked to the MS3x via the can network. This will allow full customization of shift points as well as dozens of other variables. The torque converter will most likely be a PTC matched to my combination. Read more
Blame it on my adult A.D.H.D, or my need to constantly better whatever it is I am working on. I am changing course with this build once again. I have heard it from several that they wish I would stop making changes and just get it done. Well, this is a means to that end, but in a better fashion. My plans were to build a turbocharged, fuel injected Small block Chevy engine for the truck. Which I could have easily done. However, the caveat was that I would be limited in terms of the builds horsepower due to using a stock block (this is highly disputed and while some guys do make very respectable power). Read more
The truck has been in this state for a few weeks. I tore the heads off as i will be replacing the stock iron L98 heads with aluminum heads. Still not sure which ones. I also will be removing the engine to install a modified oil pan with -12 oil drain back bungs welded on to it. I am also replacing the motor plate and installing a mid plate. The transmission is getting a few upgrades and a new converter. The stock wiring will be coming out, all Jtec related wiring will be removed from the harness, as will the air bag and abs systems.
