Part Trace Casting Number Database Project

newsite For a few months, ok over a year. I have been working on a side project. I have been building a database of casting numbers, engine codes and RPO codes. This collection will span all manufacturers and a multitude of parts categories. This will go beyond the typical lists that every other web site has, and so called casting number sites have. I have several sources that provide me information not available to many, and allow me to cover much more than anyone else.  Read more

Project Update – 500 Miles Later

10306319_10152197922994220_8390151370101742919_n So I’ve put about 500 miles on the truck since it reached the point of being driveable. I don’t say completed because the truck still has massive changes in store. The 355 has been running pretty good considering it’s a $250 score. It easily lights the 555r’s up at will. Though I desperately need to find a 9.25″ or Dana 60 rear end. The transmission has been working great as well, though I plan on installing a manual valvebody this winter. The brakes work excellent, even from high speeds the Hawk pads work great, no brake fade and the pedal feels solid. The MSD Grid has quite the learning curve, but I have pretty much gotten it sorted out. I still need to finish wiring up the launch and stage switches. The biggest bug has been the alternator. I rebuilt the one wire with a 100 amp one wire kit from Jegs. It still isn’t enough as driving at night when the electric cooling fan kicks on it heavily pulls down on the system.  So I plan on installing a 150 amp alternator this winter also.  Read more

Serious dirt on the revolutionary next-gen Vette.

By Don Sherman October 5, 2014 / Photos by Nick Kaloterakis GM’s head of global product development, Mark Reuss, confirms that the company is working on the next Corvette. Our sources elaborate on this salient piece of information, telling us that, after 61 years of evolution, the C8 will be revolutionary. The new Corvette will be the mid-engined American Dream Machine that Chevy couldn’t, until now, muster the courage to build. In truth, the factory is still not prepared to detail what’s coming, which is why you’re looking at the 2017 model year through our freshly waxed crystal ball. Read more
