So I think it’s time I highlight one of the biggest dicks on the internet, he goes by several handles, but on the Bullet, he uses the name Ordinary Builder. I know it’s an oldie, but I laugh my ass off every time I watch it. I’ve decided to take a step back from project updates, racing videos or the usual topics I post about, and talk about myself. More specifically to talk about my absolute inability to leave something ‘good enough’ when it comes to my projects. So often whether it’s building cars, buildings houses, or whatever it is you do. We often complete a task or a job, and maybe realize afterwards that you could have done it slightly different, and maybe had it turn out a little better. For most people that realization usually passes after they think about the work and sweat put into completing the initial task, and they convince themselves that the improved end result isn’t worth all the effort required. However, for some people, myself included, that realization eats at me. I literally can’t focus on anything else until I have gone back and changed or improved whatever it is. This in turn causes me to undo all the hours of labor, and of planning just to do it the way that was not visible or easily seen beforehand. This also leads to me spending twice as much (or more), than I originally budgeted or planned for. Yet, when it is completed, and the end result is better, it makes it worth it, at least to me. Yes, sometimes ‘good enough’, is good enough, but not for me. How about you?
